PRODUCTION: A Christmas Carol. 25 actors and singers are needed for the Charles Dickens holiday classic. Tiny Tim, Bob Cratchit and the spirits teach cantankerous ol’ Ebenezer Scrooge the true meaning of Christmas. Remember the magic. Or experience the tradition for the first time.
THEATRE/STUDIO: Beijing Playhouse, China’s premier Broadway theatre, produces Broadway shows in English.
AUDITION DATES: Sunday, September 21, 2008 at 2 pm and Monday, September 22, 2008 at 7:30 pm.
LOCATION: Beijing Playhouse’s performances of A Christmas Carol are at the West Gate of Chaoyang Park in the entertainment space at Block 8. Auditions and rehearsals are at Beijing BISS International School, 2 km north of the Guluo subway station. (Map provided upon request.)
ROLE(S): All roles open. Ability to perform in English is required; but English as a native language is not required. Auditions are open and anyone can come. We love discovering new talent. We request that interested actors and singers complete the Actor/Singer Audition Form in advance. It helps the directors. (Request one and we’ll send it to you.) We’re looking for 1 boy, age 4-7; 1 man, age 60-90; 8 boys and girls, age 4-17; 12 men, age 18-60; 10 women, age 18-60; and 8 singers of all ages.
AUDITION FORMAT: Monologues are encouraged but not necessary. Actors will do a live read from the script performing scenes from the show. If you want to sing, bring a song. (Call backs, if necessary, Tuesday, September 22 at 7:30 pm.)
PAY: This is volunteer fun.
PERFORMANCE DATES: Performances are Wednesday—Saturday nights and Sunday matinees, December 5-28, 2008. Rehearsals are evenings at 6:30 pm in October and November.
